August 8th 2022: Speedway action returns to the fairgrounds this week with the popular race nights during the OC Fair. The races are over three nights starting Wednesday with Super Hooligan/ Knobby Night then Thursday with the Speedway Fair Derby and, ending with the FMX/ Sidecars on Friday night.
About:
Speedway if you are not familiar with it is motorcycles racing on a tight oval track with a clay base with decomposed granite. The grinding rear tires slide in to the corners as people in the stadium watch on. The races are fast paced and, because of the tight track as well as close racing spills and, crashes are not uncommon.
I grew up in England where speedway is more common but for an amazing 52 years the races in Costa Mesa have drawn speedway fans to the OC Fair & Event Center.

All nights gates open at 5:30 pm and Qualifying starts at 6 pm with the first race at 7:30 pm

Admission:
$20 for general admission or $10 for kids aged 3-12, kids 2 and younger are free.
Parking is the usual $10 for most events at the fairgrounds.
