November 14th 2022: During tomorrow nights council meeting the City of Costa Mesa will vote on the planned conversion of the Motel 6 on Newport Blvd to 88 units of permanent affordable housing. The city council is likely to approve the conversion as it struggles to meet state mandated housing requirements.

The city is voting on approving $850,000 to CM Mercy House CHDO, LLC for the conversion in to 88 low and moderate income housing units. This move is a small step towards dealing with the homelessness and affordable housing crisis in Costa Mesa and the wider Southern California region.
