Streetcar To John Wayne Airport?
The City Of Santa Ana city council has proposed expanding its under constitution streetcar system to John Wayne Airport as well as the Anaheim resort area.
The already under construction light rail system is due to open in 2022 although its current four mile route has been criticized for being too expensive for being such a short service.
This proposed extension would go to the airport but unless it has a station in Costa Mesa or at least in the South Coast area isn’t really going to help Costa Mesa residents.
The extensions would make the system more useful and I would argue a light rail system for Orange County is long overdue, but this piecemeal system is going to take years to be big enough to make it useful.
