December 25th 2022: The Costa Mesa Sanitary District has announced again the start of its annual Christmas Tree Recycling program. When you are ready to take your Christmas tree down it can be picked up on your regular trash day outside your house.

  • Remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, plastic coverings, tree stand the tree must be completely bare
  • Put your tree outside next to your regular trash cart on your regular collection day.
  • If the tree is taller than 6′ it must be cut in half, cut up tree pieces can be put in your Organics Recycling Cart.
  • Flocked trees are not eligible for recycling and must be cut up and put in your Mixed Waste Cart.
