The donuts are good, though in Orange County there are many good donut shops and Randy’s tends to be a little more expensive; That being said its a solid donut and long hours, drive through and coolness factor eating under the huge iconic donut make it worth visiting.

History Of Randy’s Donuts
Randy’s Donuts is one of Southern California’s most famous donut shops, recognized worldwide for the giant donut mounted on its roof.
Early History
The story began in the late 1940s when entrepreneur Russell C. Wendell created a chain of drive-in donut shops called Big Donut Drive-In. The Inglewood location, which would later become Randy’s Donuts, opened in 1952–1953 as the second shop in the chain.
The Giant Donut
The shop was designed by architect Henry J. Goodwin. Its famous rooftop donut—made of steel and covered with gunite—was built to attract motorists traveling through Los Angeles during the automobile boom of the 1950s. The giant donut became one of the most recognizable examples of Southern California’s roadside architecture.
Becoming Randy’s Donuts
In 1976, Wendell sold the Inglewood Big Donut location. New owner Robert Eskow renamed it “Randy’s Donuts” after his son Randy. In 1978, brothers Ron and Larry Weintraub purchased the business and kept the name, operating the iconic shop for nearly four decades.
A Los Angeles Landmark
Over the years, Randy’s became a symbol of Los Angeles and appeared in numerous movies, television shows, music videos, and commercials. One of its most famous appearances was in the movie Iron Man 2, where Tony Stark sits inside the giant donut sign.
Modern Expansion
In 2015, entrepreneur Mark Kelegian purchased Randy’s Donuts and began expanding the brand. What had been a single iconic store for decades has since grown into a chain with locations across California, other U.S. states, and countries including Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.
Today, Randy’s Donuts remains one of the most photographed landmarks in the Los Angeles area and a lasting symbol of Southern California’s 1950s car culture.
