March 10th 2024: Of the many food stands in the new Northgate Mercado in Costa Mesa one that might be overlooked with the many stalls of traditional Mexican food is El Sinaloense Sushi. The restaurant originated in the Mexican state of Sinaloa and serves Japanese Sushi with Mexican flavors and ingredients.

This was my go to restaurant when Northgate Mercado in Costa Mesa mainly because it was a little overlooked as the crowds flooded the other new restaurants. But it seems word is getting out about the high quality sushi here sold for a reasonable price. You can get things such as your traditional California Roll but also many things with Sinaloan flavors such as chili powder, lime juice and, soy sauce or topped with things like avocado, mango and sauces like chipotle mayo or cream cheese.

The restaurant is in the far right corner near the seating area if you want to check it out. There is a small counter when you can sit and watch the friendly staff prepare the items or if full you can sit in the general seating area while you enjoy your sushi.
