Costa Mesa Votes To Continue Outdoor Dining In The City

January 17th 2024: Yesterday the Costa Mesa City Council approved an ordinance that extends outside dining in the city. During the COVID pandemic the city suspended the permit requirements and development standards for outdoor dining activities contained in the zoning code for dining patios.

The move was done during the time of the pandemic for public safety but with the change there has been a wider interest for outdoor dining across the city. The new ordinance was approved by the Costa Mesa City Council with a vote of 4-2 after some modifications were done to the original proposed ordinance.
