October 20th 2023: Pharmacy store chain RIte Aid has filed for bankruptcy, the long struggling chain has also announced the closure of 16 stores in Los Angeles and Orange County. The locations will close this year after receiving the bankruptcy judges approval.

The chapter 11 bankruptcy which was filed in New Jersey will let the company restructure which also means closing 154 locations across the country including 31 across California. The local Costa Mesa store closing is the Rite Aid location at 3029 Harbor Blvd which is near Harbor & Baker.

The location closing is noticeably slower than the Harbor & Wilson location for example and is kind of a weird location near the Sonic Drive In. The location is also across from the busy Target store at Harbor & Wilson which also has a large pharmacy.

All pharmacy chains have been closing locations as things have been switching online and the lack of pharmacists among other issues. Rite Aid although has been struggling for such a long time who knows what is the future of the company hopefully the staff at the closing locations can find a job at a nearby branch.
