Bridge Shelter - Costa Mesa Insider

The new Bridge Shelter for the homeless in Costa Mesa on Airway Avenue has stopped new admissions for the moment as the first COVID-19 cases have been identified in the shelter. Employees and staff at the center currently get tested for COVID every Wednesday. At the moment about 36 homeless people live in the shelter in the 12,285 foot facility which opened in April near John Wayne Airport. Hopefully the individuals that tested positive will be okay and the much needed facility can be reopened to new residents as soon as possible. The Bridge Shelter in Costa Mesa owned by the City Of Costa Mesa but also has a deal with the City Of Newport Beach who house their homeless in the shelter too. The idea of the Bridge Shelter is to get the homeless off the street and, hopefully transition the residents to more permanent housing.
